Dental Bonding
What is Dental Bonding?
Bonding is designed to enhance your natural teeth and correct minor flaws and imperfections at the front of your smile. Unfortunately, when your teeth are chipped, cracked or have gaps and spaces between them, it can be difficult to feel confident in the way you look. If this has been a problem for you, it might be time to consider the benefits of dental bonding. The bonding on your teeth can last for about 10 years before it will need to be replaced.
Why might Dental Bonding be needed?
The reason you might benefit from bonding is because your teeth are chipped, slightly broken or they have spaces and gaps between them. The bonding uses composite resin, which is putty-like and can be shaped to enhance your tooth. The bonding material is then cured so that it stays in place. The bonding procedure is minimally invasive, and most patients will not even need anesthetic in order to begin the work.
Who is a candidate for Dental Bonding?
To determine if bonding is needed, we will examine your teeth prior to recommending treatment. Bonding is best for otherwise healthy adult teeth. If your front teeth are decayed or need additional work, we will recommend other treatments before bonding is done. If you have older bonding that is beginning to show signs of wear, we can easily replace the material in our office.
What happens during the Dental Bonding procedure?
The bonding procedure will start with our team buffing and smoothing the area that needs to be enhanced. We then match the resin to the color of your tooth and apply it over top of the flawed area. The composite resin is smoothed into place and cured with a bright light. You should brush and floss around your bonding as you would your natural teeth. You will love the fact that bonding offers a natural look without having to undergo more extensive cosmetic treatment.
