What are Porcelain Veneers?
Veneers can be used to cover up the front of your smile. Whether you’re looking to improve your smile or want to cover up flaws and imperfections, veneers are a go-to option for many. These thin shells of tooth-colored porcelain are incredibly durable, with most veneers lasting for 10 or more years. Veneers can easily revamp your whole look without the need for invasive treatments and procedures.
Why would Porcelain Veneers be needed?
Veneers can be used to cover minor flaws and imperfections at the very front of your smile. These flaws might include cracks, chips, minor breaks, discoloration and staining. It’s not uncommon for patients to use veneers to cover gaps and spaces, or to lengthen teeth that are uneven-looking. Veneers are easy to apply, and prepping the teeth for them can be done easily in our office in a noninvasive manner.
Who is a candidate for Porcelain Veneers?
Your front teeth should be otherwise healthy enough for veneers. We will examine them and check for signs of decay. If you have one or more cavities in the front teeth, treatment is necessary before veneers can be placed. Older veneers can be easily replaced in our office as they show signs of wear.
What happens during the Porcelain Veneer procedure?
The porcelain veneer procedure begins by preparing the front teeth for the restorations. We then take impressions of your teeth and use these to make the permanent veneers. You will come in for a second appointment to have the new veneers placed. We make minor adjustments to how the veneers fit and feel. You will love the look of your new smile when leaving the office. You can brush and floss around the new veneers as usual. The veneers are firmly attached to the front teeth, so they should not fall or break off until they begin to show signs of natural wear.
